1. Monaco vs Lens

Friday, September 18 — 20:45
🔮 Prediction: Monaco 2–1 Lens
Monaco enter the round unbeaten at 3 wins and 1 draw, while Lens have struggled defensively, conceding seven goals through four league matches. Ligue 1's own preview notes that Monaco have scored in every match and that Lens have yet to keep a clean sheet.
The interesting complication is the head-to-head record: Lens won 4–1 at Monaco last season, so this isn't automatically an easy home fixture for Monaco.
However, Monaco's overall consistency is the deciding factor for me. Paris Brunner's long-range goal earned Monaco a 1–1 draw at Strasbourg last weekend, keeping them at 10 points.
Lens also showed considerable resilience by coming back from 2–0 down to draw 2–2 at Le Mans.
Why 2–1: Lens should create enough danger to score, but Monaco's defensive structure and home advantage should eventually give them the edge.

2. Paris FC vs Strasbourg

Saturday, September 19 — 17:15
🔮 Prediction: Paris FC 2–1 Strasbourg
This is one of the more difficult games of the round.
Paris FC remain unbeaten after four matches and drew 0–0 with Lyon last weekend. That result left them on eight points.
Strasbourg have also recovered nicely after opening the season with a 4–0 loss to Marseille. They subsequently recorded two wins and a draw, including their 1–1 draw against Monaco.
One statistical model gives Paris FC a slight advantage, projecting approximately 1.65–1.52 expected goals, while another model sees the match as extremely close.
Paris FC's home advantage and unbeaten start push me toward the hosts.
Why 2–1: Strasbourg are good enough to score, but Paris FC's stronger home profile should produce the difference.

3. Angers vs Troyes

Saturday, September 19 — 20:45
🔮 Prediction: Angers 1–1 Troyes
This has the feel of a very tight lower-table battle.
Angers have four points from their first four matches and drew 0–0 with Le Havre last weekend. Troyes also have four points after four matches, although their latest result was a 2–0 defeat to Lille.
Angers' home scoring has been a concern, while Troyes have shown enough resilience away from home to make this uncomfortable for the hosts.
Some models actually lean toward Troyes, while others see a much more balanced contest.
Why 1–1: Neither side has shown enough attacking consistency for me to confidently project a winner.

4. Le Mans vs Lorient

Saturday, September 19 — 20:45
🔮 Prediction: Le Mans 1–1 Lorient
Le Mans have made a respectable return to Ligue 1. They are still searching for their first victory, but they have accumulated draws and demonstrated considerable competitiveness.
Their latest performance was particularly notable: they led Lens 2–0 before Lens recovered for a 2–2 draw.
Lorient also showed fighting spirit last weekend. They led Toulouse 2–0 at halftime but eventually had to settle for a 2–2 draw after two second-half goals.
This looks like a game in which both teams should have opportunities.
Statistical models are split: one has Le Mans slightly ahead, while another projects a very low-scoring match.
Why 1–1: Both teams have demonstrated enough attacking ability to score, but neither has established enough superiority to justify a stronger prediction.

5. Lyon vs Rennes

Saturday, September 19 — 20:45
🔮 Prediction: Lyon 2–1 Rennes
One of my most interesting games of the weekend.
Lyon are unbeaten through four league matches, although they were held 0–0 by Paris FC last weekend. They currently have eight points.
Rennes are also unbeaten and moved to 10 points after beating Marseille 1–0 on September 11. Estéban Lepaul remains one of their major attacking threats.
The statistical picture gives Lyon a slight advantage: one model puts the Lyon win probability around 48%.
Rennes have been particularly difficult to beat, but Lyon's home advantage and attacking quality make this a matchup where I expect them to create slightly more.
Why 2–1: Rennes should make this competitive, but Lyon's home attack gets the narrow edge.

6. Toulouse vs Le Havre

Saturday, September 19 — 20:45
🔮 Prediction: Toulouse 1–0 Le Havre
Both teams desperately need a victory.
Toulouse remain winless after four games, but their comeback from 2–0 down to draw 2–2 at Lorient showed considerable resilience. Casper Tengstedt and Thomas Jorgensen scored in the second half.
Le Havre are also struggling and were held 0–0 by Angers last weekend. Their opening four matches have produced very little attacking output.
That makes this one of the strongest candidates for a low-scoring match.
Why 1–0: Toulouse's home advantage and improved second-half performance against Lorient are enough for me to give them the narrow edge.

7. Auxerre vs Brest

Sunday, September 20 — 15:00
🔮 Prediction: Auxerre 1–1 Brest
This is another difficult one.
Auxerre finally got their first points of the campaign by beating Nice 1–0, with Cameron Archer scoring in the 74th minute. That victory came after Auxerre had conceded 11 goals during their opening three matches.
Brest, meanwhile, lost narrowly 1–0 to PSG, but they had opportunities to equalize. Kamory Doumbia hit the post and later forced a save from Matvey Safonov.
Doumbia's four league goals remain an important attacking factor for Brest.
There is also an interesting home-history factor: Auxerre have gone unbeaten in their last three home meetings with Brest, winning two. One statistical model therefore projects a very close game and specifically lands on 1–1.
Why 1–1: Auxerre's confidence should be higher after their first win, but Brest have more proven attacking production.

8. Nice vs Lille

Sunday, September 20 — 17:15
🔮 Prediction: Nice 0–2 Lille
This is one of my stronger predictions.
Nice are currently struggling at the bottom end of the table. They lost 1–0 to Auxerre last weekend and have scored only once across their opening four league matches according to current statistical previews.
Lille, meanwhile, moved to the top of Ligue 1 after beating Troyes 2–0. They now have 10 points from four matches.
Lille also bounced back from their Champions League defeat to Real Betis with a controlled domestic performance. Tiago Santos scored and Ethan Mbappé added the second in stoppage time.
Multiple statistical models give Lille the advantage, with one projecting approximately 58% for a Lille win and another around 40%.
Why 0–2: Nice's lack of scoring is the biggest concern. Lille have enough defensive control and attacking quality to win without conceding.

9. Marseille vs PSG

Sunday, September 20 — 20:45
🔥 Prediction: Marseille 1–2 PSG
This is the headline match of Matchday 5.
Marseille have had a difficult stretch: after opening with a 4–0 victory over Strasbourg, they lost to Monaco, Paris FC and Rennes. Their latest defeat was 1–0 at Rennes.
PSG's league start was similarly unusual. They collected only two points from their opening three matches, but finally broke through with a 1–0 victory at Brest.
The major attacking storyline is Ferran Torres. He scored against Brest and now has six goals in five appearances since joining PSG.
PSG therefore enter the Classique with their first league victory finally secured and their attack beginning to find rhythm.
The match is officially scheduled for 20:45 at the Orange Vélodrome on Sunday, September 20.
Why 1–2: Marseille's home atmosphere should make this extremely competitive, but PSG's attacking ceiling and the momentum from their first league win give them the narrow edge.
